北京英国学校 | Welcoming New Members to Our Leadership Team at BSB Shunyi
We are delighted to welcome five outstanding educators to the senior leadership team at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi. Each brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and passion to their role, strengthening our commitment to excellence across all areas of the school.

Ms. Valentina Trpkoska joins as Designated Safeguarding Lead, continuing her impactful work in student support. Over the past three years, Valentina has made a remarkable difference in the quality of our provision.
As a mother to two recent Year 13 graduates and a seasoned IB educator, she brings a unique dual perspective, both as a parent and a professional.
With a background in educational psychology, she is a passionate advocate for inclusivity and personalised learning. Her fierce intelligence and deep care for students will enrich our entire school community.

Mr. Alfred Creissen steps into the role of Deputy Head of Primary and Head of Lower School, bringing over a decade of leadership experience within Nord Anglia schools. As both an educator and a parent of two young children joining Reception and Year 2, Alfred understands the hopes and nerves that come with new beginnings.
He shared: “Starting at a new school is always a mix of emotions, whether you're a parent, educator, or student. What stands out at BSB is the warmth, inclusivity, and passion for learning. I’m excited to help shape an environment where joy, academic success, and care live side by side in every learning moment. ”
“If you are still considering where to begin your child’s educational journey, my advice is simple: choose a school where your child will thrive, be cared for, and be inspired every day. For us and for all those already in this school community, The British School of Beijing is exactly that place.”

Mr. Timothy O’Reilly joins as Director of Performing Arts, bringing a deep-rooted passion for music education. With degrees in music performance, music therapy, and education, Timothy is a multi-instrumentalist and experienced conductor who has taught across both national and international curricula.
He also serves as the China Regional Lead for the Juilliard–NAE collaboration and Performing Arts Regional Lead for China. His teaching philosophy centres on cultivating a lifelong love for music while nurturing creativity, discipline, and confidence.
Timothy is excited to transform the performing arts provision at BSB, ensuring that students have world-class opportunities to perform, collaborate, and grow as artists.

Dr. Esther Kim steps up into the role of IB Diploma Programme Coordinator. A respected teacher of Korean Literature and a long-standing contributor to the global IB community, Dr. Kim has held several IBEN roles, including workshop leader, visiting team member, and senior examiner. Her current role with the IB involves writing assessment materials and setting marking standards—one of the most sought-after positions within the organisation.
As a mother of four children at BSB, including one in Year 13, Dr. Kim brings a holistic understanding of the IB journey from both professional and parental perspectives.
BSB is fortunate to welcome an educator of Dr. Kim’s calibre and experience, whose voice will enrich and collaboratively guide both teaching practice and the strategic direction of the Senior Leadership Team.

Mr. Andrew Smith joins as Director of Sport, bringing a dynamic blend of professional athletic experience and international teaching expertise. Originally from Australia, Andrew has taught internationally since 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports, Fitness and Coaching, along with a postgraduate degree in education.
A former professional athlete in Hong Kong, he has coached a wide range of sports across multiple countries and holds UK coaching certifications. Andrew’s approach to sport is holistic, with a strong focus on developing physical literacy for all students.
He is passionate about creating inclusive environments where every child can build confidence, coordination and a lifelong love of sport. At the same time, he is committed to cultivating the conditions where excellence in sport can thrive by supporting talented athletes to reach their full potential through high-quality coaching, competitive opportunities and a culture of discipline and teamwork.
We are excited to welcome Valentina, Alfred, Timothy, Esther, and Andrew to our leadership team and look forward to the positive impact they will make across our school community.
