As summer gives way to early autumn,the long-awaited reunion of teachers and students is just around the corner.In this moment of preparation,the BASIS International School Guangzhou community is coming together,ready to open new chapters for the new school year.
盛夏忽已暮，浅秋正渐浓。悠然的假期已经渐入尾声，广州贝赛思国际学校大家庭的每一位成员都在默默努力，准备以全新的面貌迎接学子们归来。

Student Orientation Day
学生报到日
On Student Orientation Day,the staff and faculty made the campus feel lively.With bright welcome boards and detailed orientation packets,everything was set to kick off the new school year with fresh energy.
学生报到日当天，老师们精心营造了生机勃勃、喜气洋洋的新学年氛围。开学资料包、心愿墙、欢迎海报……校园的每一个角落都充满了仪式感，让人怦然“新”动。
To help students get to know the campus and prepare for the new school year,each division held an orientation event.Dr.Smeltzer,Head of School,along with the Heads of Divisions,welcomed the students back and shared their expectations and best wishes for the school year ahead.
为了帮助学生提前熟悉校园环境，更高效地规划新学年的学术与活动安排，各学部组织了专题活动。校长Dr.Smeltzer与学部主任们分别在活动上致辞，欢迎同学们归来，并对大家新学年的发展致以真诚的期许。
The ECE students and their parents attended the Meet the Teachers event.They quickly made new friends and began to connect with their teachers,while parents learned about the teachers,curriculum,and educational approach of the ECE program.
幼儿部的小萌新们牵着爸爸妈妈的手参加了教师见面会。在欢声笑语中，孩子们不一会儿就交上了新朋友，也与即将陪伴自己学习和生活的老师们熟络起来。家长们也对幼儿部的任课老师、课程设置和教育理念有了全面的了解。
Welcome Back!
The Primary School,Middle School,and High School organized tailored activities for students moving up to a new division,as well as for all new students.These activities included information sessions,ice-breaking games,and campus tours.The themes and formats were carefully designed to help students adjust to their new environments,build strong morale,and foster a spirit of exploration and challenge.Primary School parents also created cards for their children,expressing their heartfelt wishes as their children embark on the new school year.
小学部、初中部与高中部则为幼升小、小升初与初升高的全体学生以及其他年级的新生“量身定做”了讲座、破冰游戏、校园参观等精彩活动。这些活动的主题与形式相互联系，最终的目的都是引导学生融入新学部，促进新生和在校生的交流，并激发他们勇于探索与挑战的精神。小学部的家长也为孩子亲手制作了开学贺卡，传达了对孩子迈入新学年的衷心祝福。

Onsite Training
教学培训
Teachers play a crucial role in supporting students'learning.Before the new school year began,all faculty returned to campus for classroom setup and a week of onsite training,which covered an array of topics including curriculum,pedagogy,student activities,and parent-school communication.Through information sessions and workshops,faculty gained a clear understanding of the goals,plans and new projects for the upcoming school year.They also had productive discussions on how to better support students’academic and social-emotional development and how to strengthen collaboration with parents as a community.
老师是学生成长的“引路人”。开学前夕，教学团队返岗布置课室，并参加为期一周的新学年教学培训。从课程体系到教学方法，从学生活动到家校沟通，从部门职能解读到教师专业发展规划，老师们通过介绍与实训全方位了解新学年的工作目标与新项目，对于如何更高效地促进学生的学习和社交情感发展、如何更密切地开展家校合作与交流也进行了富有成效的探讨，力求多维度、多方面提升学生在校的求学体验。

Library Updates
图书馆筹备
During the summer break,the librarians,house parents,and logistics staff members processed over a thousand new textbooks,while old reusable ones were refreshed with new protective covers.The library also has exciting additions:popular books selected by students and teachers at last year’s Reader’s Choice Book Fair are now on the shelves,ready to be discovered.The new Oxford Reading Tree Talking Books are neatly arranged,waiting for our young readers.Once school starts,students can borrow these books right away.The librarians are also preparing a'Back-to-School'book exhibition to give everyone a warm welcome as the new school year begins.
暑假期间，图书馆与住宿部、后勤部的老师们紧密合作，顺利完成了千余本新教材的加工，并为循环使用的旧教材披上了崭新的保护封皮，让旧书焕发“新生”。此外，图书馆里还藏有更多惊喜：在上学年的读者选书会上，由师生投票选出的“心仪”图书已在假期悄然上架，崭新的牛津树点读系列也整齐排列在书架上，静候读者们的到来。由图书馆老师们策划的主题书展也将在开学第一天和大家见面。

First Aid Training
急救培训
Safeguarding the health and safety of every student is our top priority.During the summer holiday,the Nurse's Office organized first aid training for managers,LETs,and House Parents.The training covered essential emergency procedures such as CPR,AED use,wound care,burn treatment,and responses to poisoning and choking incidents.Through hands-on practice,information sessions,and assessments,teachers and staff members enhanced their first aid knowledge and are now better prepared to respond calmly in emergencies.
为每一位同学的健康安全保驾护航，是学校义不容辞的责任。暑假期间，医务室组织教学管理团队、LET与宿舍老师参加急救培训。培训覆盖心肺复苏、AED使用、创伤止血包扎、烧伤处理、中毒急救、异物梗阻处理等常见急救场景，旨在通过讲解、练习与考核丰富校内工作人员的医学知识储备，确保大家真正掌握本领，在遇到紧急情况时可以冷静应对。
In the new school year,we aim to protect students'health with even better methods,making sure that safety is prioritized in every part of our campus.

New Boarding Facilities
宿舍换新貌
In preparation for the students'return,the boarding team has not only upgraded the facilities but also focused on enhancing the dorm culture.Banners displaying the words"PASSION"and"LEADERSHIP"were put up on the first floor of the dorm building to reflect the values that House Parents hope to instill in our boarders.Each floor also has its own theme color,creating a warm and welcoming environment that is sure to make a lasting impression on the students.
为了迎接学生返校，学校宿舍在更新硬件设施的基础上，更注重宿舍的文化建设。走进宿舍楼一楼，映入眼帘的是印有“PASSION（热情）”和“Leadership（领导力）”的横幅海报。这两个单词承载着宿舍老师新学年对住宿生的殷切希望。不同的宿舍楼层也拥有自己的主题颜色，让学生眼前一亮，倍感温馨。
The House Parents also prepared a surprise for the students—they hand-painted a mural in the common room and set up a cozy area with brand-new circular sofas.The study room has been outfitted with new desks and chairs,and the study areas have been reorganized to provide a more independent and quiet learning environment for the students.
宿舍老师们还为同学们准备了惊喜——他们亲手在学生活动室绘制了卡通涂鸦墙，并用全新的环形沙发布置了温馨的放松空间。自习室也配备了崭新的桌椅，学习区域也得到了重新的规划，让同学们拥有更加独立、安静的学习环境。
In the new school year,we look forward to creating a warm and welcoming home for our students.
新学年，我们期待与同学们一起携手打造最温馨的“家园”，用浓浓暖意点亮凤凰山下的点点灯火。
