Volleyball Triumphs: Historic Wins for RDF!
排球捷报：瑞得福书写历史性胜利！
This week, our volleyball teams made RDF history with unprecedented success in the Shenzhen League:
本周，我校排球队在深圳联赛中取得突破性成绩，创下瑞得福历史：
The girls’ team claimed GOLD, marking their first-ever championship in the league and a milestone for RDF and RDF sports.
女子排球队斩获金牌，这是她们首次在该联赛中夺冠，更是瑞得福国际学校与瑞得福体育领域的重要里程碑；
The boys’ team earned BRONZE, a first for RDF in the same competition.
男子排球队夺得铜牌，同样实现了我校在该赛事中的历史性突破。
We are immensely proud of their perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. On Monday, when we return after the weekend, we will celebrate these RDF Legends all day! Please congratulate the players when you see them in the halls—they will be wearing their volleyball uniforms.

Strength Competition: Power and Perseverance

Our week kicked off Sunday evening with a thrilling Strength Competition, where dozens of students showcased their athleticism. Highlights included:

A nail-biting plank-off between Larissa and Jenny, both holding the position for nearly 5 minutes before Larissa claimed victory.

Record-breaking bench presses, deadlift challenges, and push-up champions emerging across categories.

Academic Partnerships and Global Connections

This week, we welcomed representatives from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NYC), who spoke to students about building portfolios for university applications. This visit followed our international education symposium, where 60 global academic leaders gathered at RDF.
本周，加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学（UBC）与普瑞特艺术学院（纽约布鲁克林校区）的代表到访我校，为学生们讲解大学申请和作品集的制作要点。此前，我校上周五刚举办国际学校大学展，迎来 60 多所全球名校齐聚瑞得福。

At the Parent-Teacher Conference this week, I met over 30 families. Thank you all for your visits—it was an honor to host you!

A common theme emerged: preparing for English Proficiency Exams like TOEFL or IELTS. I reminded younger students that these tests assess reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, and advised them to start building proficiency early by:

Every RDF student has at least 7 hours a day to train their English—we highly recommend taking advantage of this time.
每位瑞得福学生每天至少有 7 小时可用于英语学习 —— 强烈建议大家充分利用这段时间。
Another frequent question was about future planning: “What will my child study?” and “How can I help them find academic passions?” The best approach is to review transcripts for strengths and engage in genuine discussions. While parents may hope for clearer answers, remember that UBC noted the average undergraduate changes their major 6 times—your child is not alone. However, focused goals remain valuable; students who enter university with clarity are more likely to thrive.
另一个高频问题关乎未来规划：“孩子该选什么专业？”“我该如何帮孩子找到学术兴趣？” 最佳方法是通过成绩单分析孩子的优势领域，并展开真诚沟通。或许家长们期待更明确的答案，但需记得：UBC 代表提到，本科生平均会更换 6 次专业 —— 您的孩子并非个例。不过，明确的目标依然重要：带着清晰方向进入大学的学生，往往能更快适应、更好发展。

Next week, RDF will celebrate Halloween! Students are encouraged to finalize costumes while adhering to school guidelines:
下周，瑞得福将举办万圣节庆祝活动！请提醒孩子确定节日装扮，同时遵守校园规定：
Avoid overly revealing or politically sensitive designs.
避免过于暴露或涉及政治敏感的设计
Keep costumes school-appropriate (no excessive gore).
