SIPC中学部的研学如期而至，本次研学的目的地是仓东遗产教育基地。

仓东位于广东开平，作为百年前中西交汇之地，既是中国走向世界的起点，也是世界影响中国的地点，海外思潮融合本土文化，成就了独具一格的侨乡风貌，是近代移民史以及侨乡发展的一个缩影。

SIPC Secondary School’s study trip comes at the expected time. The destination this time is the Cangdong Heritage Education Base.

Cangdong is located in Kaiping, Guangdong. As the place where China and the West meet a hundred years ago, it is not only the starting point for China to enter the world, but also the place where the world influences China. The integration of overseas thoughts with local culture has created a unique style of overseas Chinese hometown, which is an epitome of the history of modern immigration and the development of overseas Chinese hometown.

在研学行程开始前，SIPC中学部就将“仓东研学”纳入了国际视野项目计划，各年级以小组为单位，就仓东的历史、文化、建筑、美食等方面，进行了提前调研和探讨。学生们带着对大千世界的美好向往，对知识的强烈渴求，对人文历史的浓厚兴趣，开启了为期3天2夜的研学之旅。

Before the study trip, SIPC Middle School department included Cangdong Research into the international perspective project plan. Each grade conducted research and discussion in advance on the history, culture, architecture, cuisine and other aspects of Cangdong as a group. With a strong yearning for the world, a strong thirst for knowledge, and a strong interest in humanities and history, the students started the three-day and two-night study trip.

作为文化传承之地，仓东延续着特色的民风民俗。

学生们在到达时，就感受到了舞狮锣鼓欢迎仪式，舞狮作为中国传统的民间艺术，人们以此希冀生活顺遂、事事如意。学生们了解广东的醒狮文化，还在专业老师的带领下，打鼓舞狮，感受南拳之威武。

As a place of cultural heritage, Cangdong continues its distinctive folk customs.

Upon arrival, the students were greeted with a lion dance, a traditional Chinese folk art, to wish for a prosperous life. Under the guidance of the local teachers, the students learned about the lion dance culture of Guangdong. Under the guidance of professional teachers, they also played drums and lion dance to feel the power of southern boxing.

体验完舞狮的表演后，学生们还进行了中国传统扇子和宫灯的制作。在传统中华文化里，这些意味着团圆、美好之意。学生们挥洒自己的创意，尽情创作。

After the lion dance, the students also made traditional Chinese fans. In traditional Chinese culture, fans mean reunion and happiness. The students put their own creative writing on the fans and created freely.

在仓东，有一项不可错过的体验，那就是非物质文化遗产——灰雕。

灰雕，是开平碉楼上重要的建筑装饰，迄今已有近300年的历史。在仓东村的每栋建筑物上都能看到灰雕，这些灰雕既有山水风景、花鸟，也有外国风情，寄寓着族人对美好生活的向往、对子孙的祝福和希冀。在老师的指导下，学生们体验亲手制作灰雕，将自己的独特创意形成雕塑作品。

In Cangdong, one thing you can't miss is the intangible cultural heritage -- clay sculpture.

Clay sculpture, an important architectural decoration on Kaiping Diaolou, has a history of nearly 300 years. Clay sculpture can be seen on every building in Cangdong Village. These clay sculptures have landscapes, flowers and birds, as well as foreign customs, expressing the yearning for a better life and the wishes and hopes of their children and grandchildren. Under the guidance of teachers, students made their unique clay sculptures by hand, turning their creativity into sculpture works.

仓东村本身是一座记录侨乡发展历史的天然博物馆，祠堂、碉楼、洋楼、古名居等建筑诉说着历史，见证者侨乡的发展。在一砖一瓦之间，岁月连绵着岁月，生命的故事代代相传。

Cangdong Village itself is a natural museum that records the development of overseas Chinese township. Ancestral hall, Diaolou, foreign buildings, ancient residences and other buildings tell the history and witness the development of overseas Chinese township. Brick by brick, the years roll on and the stories of life passes from generation to generation.

学生们漫游村落，感受传统建筑之美；驻足博物馆，领略历史发展变迁。行走于相片、船票、古书籍、锅碗瓢盆、服饰等历史文物之间，听老师们讲解背后的故事，穿越时空，情感在此处连接。

Students wandered through villages to experience the beauty of traditional architecture. They stopped at the museum to appreciate the evolution of history. Students walked among historical objects such as photos, boat tickets, ancient books, pots and pans, clothes, and teachers explained the stories to them, traveling through time and space, where the common human emotions were connected.

在仓东，学生们感受到了最自然纯真的快乐。放下了手机、IPAD等电子设备，他们滚铁圈、拔河、踢毽子......体验户外游戏的快乐。

In Cangdong, the students felt the most natural and innocent happiness. Getting rid of electronic devices such as mobile phones and iPads, the students rolled hoops, tug-of-war, kicked the shuttlecock...experiencing the joy of outdoor games.

山间采草药，晨聆鸟鸣，观星赏月.....在月光下，在田埂边，大家载歌载舞。点烟花、放河灯，在大榕树下许愿，把心中最美好的祝福与心愿寄托给祠堂和山水。

Collect herbs in the mountains, listen to the birds singing in the morning, watch the stars and admire the moon... In the moonlight and by the ridge, everyone sang and danced. Light fireworks and river lights, make a wish under the big banyan tree, and place the best wishes on the ancestral hall and landscape.

依山傍水的仓东村，除了拥有丰富的历史文化遗产，还有令人口舌生津的特色美食。村民亲手制作本地美食，招待八方来客，由胃入心。

Cangdong Village, surrounded by mountains and rivers, not only has a rich historical and cultural heritage, but also delicious specialties. The villagers make local delicacies to entertain visitors from all directions, from the stomach to the heart, to wash away the travel fatigue.

皮脆肉嫩的柴火烧鹅，香糯焦脆的煲仔饭，清甜可口的传统糕点...... 学生们在品尝特色岭南风味之余，还在老师的带领下，跟随村民的脚步，走进后山，赏风景，摘草药，学习本土药膳文化。

Crispy roasted goose, crispy clay pot rice, sweet and delicious traditional pastry...... The students tasted the characteristic Lingnan flavor, then followed the footsteps of the villagers to enjoy the scenery, pick herbs and learn the local medicinal food culture under the guidance of the teachers.

除了美食品鉴，学生们还在当地美食传承人的指导下，学习制作传统点心。各年级的学生还分工合作，烹饪出了一桌可口的佳肴，感恩这几天提供帮助的老师和地方长者。

Besides food tasting, students also learned how to make traditional pastry under the guidance of local food inheritors. Students of all grades also worked together to cook a delicious meal to thank the teachers and local elders who helped these days.

最后，当地村民还赠送了特色大米，学生们都跃跃欲试，要准备回家做一次正宗的煲仔饭。

Finally, local villagers gave rice to students, who were eager to go home and make clay pot rice.

在结营仪式上，“仓东计划”联合发起人，仓东文化遗产保育与发展中心负责人沈益民老师就此次研学活动总结：

仓东研学，激发和培养学生们的探究精神和国际思维，紧密联系城市生活和乡村小镇，引导着学生去认识和挖掘各种不同风格建筑所蕴含的文化美，艺术美和历史价值，将侨乡文化和民族精神植根于学生的内心，希望SIPC学生们能以这次研学经历进行反思，热爱家乡的每一寸土地，保留淳朴的情怀，结合国际教育的创新意识，充分发挥自身价值，为社会和国家献出一份力量。

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Shen Yimin, the co-initiator of the Cangdong Project and the head of the Cangdong Cultural Heritage Conservation and Development Center, interpreted and summarized SIPC’s study trip:

The study trip, inspires and cultivates students' exploring spirit and international thinking, closely connects urban life and rural towns, and guides students to understand and explore the cultural beauty, artistic beauty and historical value contained in various buildings of different styles. The local culture and national spirit is rooted in the hearts of students. I hope that  students of SIPC can reflect on the trip, love every inch of land in their hometown, retain their simple feelings, combine the innovative consciousness of international education, and give full play to their own value to contribute to the society and the country.

很荣幸可以带领学生了解我们仓东以及五邑侨乡的文化，在这三天的相处中被学生们的表现出的各种能力所震撼，一、出色的表现力，在事先没有多少时间的准备下，与我们的村民的一起奉献了精彩的晚会表演；二、强烈的好奇心，在带小朋友们认知村落时，同学们对于事物的好奇心，让他们迅速地了解到乡村；三、优秀的表达，第三天乡村绘画后的解说，所表现出不怯场、中英文切换以及流利的演说，让我对国际学校的敬佩。希望下次有机会能与学生们有更多的交流。

I am honored to lead the students to understand the culture of our Cangdong and Wuyi Overseas Chinese Hometown. During the three days' stay together, I was shocked by the various abilities demonstrated by the students: 1. Excellent performance. We provided a wonderful evening performance for our villagers without too much time to prepare; 2. Strong curiosity. When we led the children to learn about the village, the students’ curiosity about things allowed them to quickly understand the countryside; 3. Excellent expression. The students showed no stage fright, switched between Chinese and English, making me begin to admire the international school. I hope I can have more exchanges with the students next time.

It was truly an enriching experience. Multiple values and skills were learned during this trip. At first, the importance of tradition, culture and history that this region provides which is extraordinary. Knowing about the past and ways of lives of these people really help one to better understand the world we live in. The second aspect that was interiorized was the environmental and ecological consciousness that were passed down from generations to generations. Everything that was produced was organic and respected the nature. At last, this trip also empowered everyone a sense of community and team work. Working as group allows to develop a social consciousness and enjoy the beauty of life as a big family. I learned so much from this trip. I made friends with the locals and the organizers who made a great job. I sincerely hope to have more such experiences.

令我印象最深刻的是G7班中的一位同学的表现。在出发前，她跟我抱怨说不能带电子设备简直无法忍受；然而在研学过程中，她从一开始离开手机没法生存地状态，到充分参与并享受活动，要离开的时候，还说“尽管没有手机或iPad，我也一样能每天很快乐，我觉得自己超cool的！”科技的确给我们的生活带来很多便利，但是适当的“放下手机”，与人用心进行交流，才会有更多的时间来重拾自己的生活。

What impressed me most was the performance of a classmate in the G7 class. Before setting off, she complained to me that she couldn't survive if she couldn't bring electronic devices; however, in the process of studying, she couldn't survive without the mobile phone at the beginning, to fully participate and enjoy the activities, and when she was about to leave, she also said "Even though I don’t have a mobile phone or an iPad, I can still be happy every day. I think I’m super cool!" Technology has indeed brought a lot of convenience to our lives, but the proper "put down the phone" and communicate with others attentively will give us more time to regain our lives.

The school trip to Cangdong Village was one that was informative, active and nostalgic trip. The students completed many tasks. There are two activities that were my personal favorite which were the lion dancing with locals and picking wild vegetables outside. We got a chance to learn first hand and learn the different ways of cooking and preparing for future reference. when we first arrived to the village, they greeted us by playing traditional music with drums, a gong and cymbals. They played various traditional instruments, which enhanced my experience of the place as a whole. Overall, this was a great trip that has taught all of us to explore and never stop learning about your history.

在这三天里，我主要充当的是一个摄影师的角色，但恰好是这样一个角色，让我捕捉到了更多学生真实的表情。在众多表情中，出现最多的就是专注和好奇这两个表情。绝大多数的活动都是学生们从未体验过的，例如割稻谷，灰雕以及舞狮这样的活动。我相信，这将是他们铭记一生的体验。更重要的是，我们回校后，也会组织一些事项去强化大家的记忆。我们应该用更多这样体验式的方式，帮助学生加强学习。

During these three days, I mainly played the role of a photographer, but it happened to be such a role that allowed me to capture more real expressions of students. Among the many expressions, the two expressions of concentration and curiosity appear the most. Most of the activities students have never experienced before, such as rice harvesting, grey sculpture and lion dance activities. I believe that this will be the experience they will remember for a lifetime. More importantly, after we return to school, we will organize some matters to strengthen everyone's memory. We should use more such experiential ways to help students strengthen their learning.

柏格森曾经说过，所谓的当下，其实就是一个人记忆能够承载的，内心能够关心到的，所有过去到现在的长度。

仓东村的魅力不只在于建筑，还在于当地的人和文化。SIPC之所以选择来到仓东村，是因为想要带领学生们去感受历史与文化的脉络，将生态教育与户外研学结合起来，以项目制的方式，认识生态环境与可持续发展的理念，启发学生对人与自然关系的反思。我们也希望借此机会，在学生心中种下一颗保护文化遗产的种子，保持对自我与世界的探索、发现、好奇与接纳。

Bergson once said that the so-called present is actually all the length from the past to the present that one's memory can carry and one's heart can care about. The charm of Cangdong village lies not only in the architecture, but also in the local people and culture. SIPC choose to come to Cangdong Village because we wanted to lead students to feel the context of history and culture, combine ecological education with outdoor research, understand the concept of ecological environment and sustainable development in a project based way, and inspire students to reflect on the relationship between man and nature. We also hope to take this opportunity to plant a seed in the minds of students to protect cultural heritage, and to maintain exploration, discovery, curiosity and acceptance of self and the world.
